The "Nice Toilet"

In Kleve, you'll find clean, freely accessible restrooms without having to search for long. Thanks to the "Nice Toilet" initiative, restaurants and public facilities make their restrooms available free of charge. This allows you to stroll through the city in a relaxed, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere.

The "Nice Toilets" are located in municipal facilities, cafes and restaurants, as well as retail stores.

The restrooms are available during the respective opening hours of the establishments. These times may vary depending on the location.

Especially on warm days, access to free drinking water is important. Kleve is actively committed to improving quality of life and sustainability – with public drinking fountains and refill stations where you can fill your bottle with fresh tap water free of charge.

Currently, you can find two public fountains with tap water:

Elsa Fountain (seating area under the tree, near Great Road 92–94)
Kavarinerstraße (at the fountain before the Hopfensackstege junction, near Kavarinerstraße 11)

The water comes from the municipal network and meets the highest quality standards – safe, fresh and free.

Refill stations in Kleve

The Refill Germany initiative is committed to combating plastic waste – with a simple principle: Bring your own bottle and refill it for free. Many cafes, shops, and public institutions in Kleve participate in the project. You can recognize refill stations by the blue Refill sticker on the window or door.

Public transport

City bus

Those who prefer to travel without a car are in the right place in Kleve. In addition to various bus connections in and through the districts, you can also travel through Kleve's city center by bus: the city bus connects the upper and lower towns. Bus line 49 between the train station and the EOC shopping center runs every half hour and allows you to easily navigate Kleve's hilly terrain.

Public buses

All buses stop at the bus station. There is also a transfer point between lines there. Detailed information on bus departure times, fares, and connections is available at the NIAG customer center at the train station or online via the NIAG timetable information service.

Getting around Kleve: City bus, green signposts, nice toilet, drinking water fountains and refill stations make your exploration comfortable and sustainable.

There are numerous parking spaces around the city center in Kleve. Behind the train station, on van-den-Bergh-Straße, there is a large free parking lot. There is also a very centrally located parking garage at the Neue Mitte (New Center).

The city bus runs every half hour from the train station through the pedestrian zone to the EOC shopping center.
